Harbourfront, Toronto, Canada, 2012[open in full screen]

Strictly speaking this is not a square. Since waterfront redevelopments are taking public square functions in lot of the cities around the world, this one also deserves our attention. We have couple more waterfront redevelopment in our collection, if you are interested: Harbour plaza, Key West, Florida; Arnarhóll, Reykyavik; Kromboomslot, Amsterdam, and some others.

More and more content is added over time to this space end it is really a lovely and active public space.

Every public square is about people and today "Circus" event gathered thousands of kids and of course their parents to enjoy the performances.

Very magical event happened to us somewhere in the fall of 2010. One evening we were reading the text on a plaque that friends of Thomas Pitkin placed on this spot. Thomas has a habit for a very long time to feed "Charlie" black-crowned heron on this spot for years.

In 2010 Thomas passed away. That evening as we were discussing the sad destiny of both Thomas and Charlie, Charlie just appeared there in a twilight, looking to us sadly and probably hoping that we are there to offer him his favourite chicken dinner. He stood there for just couple of minutes and disappeared in the darkness as soon as he figured out that none of us is Thomas. :(
