In the east side of Toronto, in the areas of East York and Scarborough this is closest you can find to the urban square or any public open space.
It was created around the East York Civic Center, previously city hall of the East York , before amalgamation to the City of Toronto.
It consists of the open "square like" space at the entrance of the somewhat architecturally attractive building and quite large well maintained park.
Close proximity to the large hospital complex, just diagonally across the busy intersection, is making it very useful as a resting or just waiting place.
As you can see on our map whole area is taken by innumerable individual residential houses without any public space around it.
Farmers market held in the park every weekend is adding so needed content and making this park relatively pleasant. What is happening during the night when everybody is gone?
