Morón is a town and a municipality in the Ciego de Avila Province in Cuba. It’s the closest city to the Jardines del Rey beach-resort (Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Paredon Grande).

It’s the oldest city in the province, founded on May 24, 1543 by conquistador Jacome de Avila., recognized as a town in 1750.

Moron is also known as "La Ciudad del Gallo" (the city of the rooster), population is around 64,661 inhabitants and is the second in importance in the province, after the capital city Ciego de Avila.

As very usual on many of urban parks in Cuba it is hosting on the very prominent spot figure of the mother with the child, [unfortunately we don't know the author), obviously that is the main reason for the name of this park, Parque Las Madres.

Parque is connected with the nearby place Parque de El Gallo de Moron, with the monumental bronze sculpture of a rooster (already mentioned symbol of the town), created by the Cuban artist Rita Longa in the 1980's, and large empty park, space for mass gatherings, quite common in contemporary Cuba.

It has at the entrance reminder "Somos Continuidad" [We are continuity].
