Piazza di Santa Maria Novella, Firenza, Italy, 2001[open in full screen]

Previous Campiello Bruno Crovato, Venezia, Italy

Piazza width numerous famous buildings, like church St. Maria Novella finished in 1360 and just behind it Firenza main railway station. The other ones are Palazzo Pitti-Broccardi and 13th century La Loggia dell'Ospedale di San Paolo.

La Loggia was significantly enlarged in the 15th century with important work done by famous artist Andrea della Robbia.

By the way, this building was used in our logo as a top left corner [check logo in the header above]

Proximity of the railway station is significantly spoiling the impression. Square desperately need renovation and cleaning. As you can see it is missing some basic street furniture and greenery is in extremely poor condition.

Last row of photos bellow is from our 1981 visit showing how magnificent Firenza actually is.
