Largo do Palácio da Pena, Sintra, Portugal, 2002 [open in full screen]

  Previous

in 1838 D. Fernando of Saxe Coburg-Gotha, who married queen Mary II, in 1836 fell in love with this place on his visit to Sintra.

On the top of the Sintra mountain since 11th century there was a convent of Frades Hieronimitas, seriously damaged in the earthquake of 1755. Fernando ordered it to be reconstructed and later added the magnificent castle around it. This space is with the fantastic view of the Atlantic ocean in the distance.   Don't miss the oportunuty to walk down the hill true really magnificant garden surrounding the whole castle and extending long way down, ending with the little lake.
