Praça Misericordia, Cascais, Portugal, 2017[open in full screen]

  Previous

Just few steps from the Praça 5 de Outubro is this very secluded area consisting of two connected spaces. This space is nameless, we are calling it Praça Misericordia because it is in front of Misericordia church and Santa Casa de Misericordia building providing various social services for the citizens of Cascais. Largo Cidade de Vitoria space with the stalls with souvenirs stalls is on the lower level connected by the stairs.

Very interesting street art by Mario Bélem done during Muraliza street art festival in 2015 is visible in few doors in this area. Few very serious other street art works are around Cascais, including this space, and obvious is that it is very appreciated.

Public art is taken very seriously and interwoven with traditional architecture in carefully organized way.

Large number of excellent restaurants are everywhere in this pedestrian area. Our favourite one is House of Wonders a Vegetarian Rooftop & Mezze Restaurant, serving daily fresh creative Mediterranean cuisine, fruit juices & raw vegan patisserie. Our granddaughter joined us on her first mayor oversea trip, enjoying atmosphere in one of restaurant three floors and the rooftop patio.
