Campo Sao Francisco, Ponta Delgada

An old square in the downtown Beograd, built on a previously empty lot in front of the main gate of the Beograd fortress. National theater, national museum and some other important buildings are on this square. Main venue for public gatherings, protests, celebrations even concerts. Trg republike, is still today the main dating space, in a same way as when we were young many years ago.

[Serbian translation] Ovaj trg u Centru Beograda izgradjen je na mestu koje je prethodno bilo prazno ispred ulaza u staru Beogradsku tvrdjavu. Narodno pozoriste, narodni muzej i neke druge vazne javne gradjevine su takodje na ovom trgu. To je glavno mesto u gradu za javne manifestacije, proteste, proslave i koncerte. U "nase" vreme "konj" - spomenik Knezu Mihajlu, bilo je ubedljivo najpopularnije mesto za sastanke u gradu.

As you can see on the map from 1878 bellow, square already existed except that it was expanded after 1949 when numerous older buildings were demolished. Dotted line on the map from 2019 and blue line on a 1878 map are marking old city walls mostly already demolished in 19th century. Square is under heavy renovation now, check it out.
