This is all about combined pedestrian space of Knez Mihailo street, space around Deliska Česma [fountain] and Plato area named after one of the best bookstore in Beograd.
Delijska Česma from year 1843 is only one still saved among many on this ruth. This is third reincarnation of the drinking fountain. When in 1987 Knez Mihajlova Street was reconstructed Aleksandar Deroko, famous architect, was selected as a winner on the international design competition.
Bath was excavated when the main structure of the square, building of the Belgrade University, School of Philosophy was built.
It was designed by one of my favourite professors on the University og Belgrade, School of Architecture, arch. Sveltislav Ličina in 1977.
Today it is main gathering space for the students of the nearby schools and book lovers in Belgrade and beyond. We visited same space back in 2007, not much of the difference is noticed.
