Plaça Vella, Terrassa, Spain, 2009[open in full screen]

  Previous

Terrassa lies just 25km south of famous Montserrat monastery [see previous square] and 28 km northwest of Barcelona.

"Lets have some food here" was our decision one evening before sunset when we were passing Terrassa on a highway. We were really pleasantly surprised when we arrived to Plaça in the city centre. It looked that the whole town is on the main city square.

All of the restaurants with patios were full, all the public sitting areas were occupied, kids, youth, older generation... just look at the happy sights on the small photos bellow. This is what "the urban square" is suppose to be. Everybody including us was satisfied with what this plaça has to offer.

Buildings, unfinished cathedral from 12 century, size of the open space, balance of shade and sun, patios, shops, informative panels about city amenities, all lied in a enjoyable harmony. What a peaceful excitement!

Tip for visitors: Just of the Plaça Vella [meaning old square] in the Carrer de la Font on your right is a lovely, inexpensive, restaurant, without patio unfortunately, but with excellent Catalan food and hospitable stuff.

Unfortunately nobody can remember name of that restaurant :(
