Navy Pier is proud to offer a diverse variety of exciting events and public programs year-round. Our extensive event calendar features something for everyone, from free fireworks displays throughout the year to live music, theatre, art exhibits, dance performances, cultural celebrations, lake cruises and kids’ activities.

Throughout its years, Navy Pier has shifted purposes time and time again, adapting to the needs of the nation. Since its completion in 1916, the Pier has been instrumental in both World Wars, served as an exhibition space, host of a summer music festival, and home to one of the most famous Ferris Wheels in history, finally becoming the nationally known destination it is today.

Our experience was limited to just a few hours. We were in Chicago to attend two baseball games by Toronto Blue Jays, but also to watch a game of soccer [football] match during the FIFA World Cup.

Nice opportunity to interact with locals during this otherwise not so popular sport in USA.
