Space around northeastern tip off the Northerly Island on Lake Michigan is hosting The Adler Planetarium, municipal public museum for astronomy, operated by the Chicago Park District. It is the first planetarium in the United States, founded in 1930 by local businessman Max Adler.
The planetarium is surrounded by sculptures including: Man Enters the Cosmos by Henry Moore (1980); Spiral Galaxy by John David Mooney (1998); and America's Courtyard by Ary Perez and Denise Milan, not actually visible on our images.
This very quiet area is with perfect views toward the downtown Chicago. Ideal spot for relaxing after long city strolls. It is also protected by the Nicolaus Copernicus, the father of modern astronomy, image on the left bellow, erected to mark the 500th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543).
