The Esplanade[open in full screen]

Previous Passo di Gavia – elevation 2.621 m

This urban panorama covers numerous squares in downtown Toronto, and it is very special. It was taken from the roof garden of the condominium building in the street called The Esplanade. Long time ago in 1793, The Esplanade was along the edge of the lake Ontario. Today lake is still visible but approximately 300m away, first railway and then highway was needed so land was added along the shore.

But! Most special is that we live here, enjoying very much our neighbourhood, Esplanade, cute urban street with the big name. It is running along what was in mid 1800 lake Ontario edge in Toronto. Today The Esplande and the Crombie Park, both on the photo above, are a natural coridor – famous Esplanade walk]. It is leading trough Parlament Square Park, where once first Ontario Parliament Building stood, burned by American attackers during the 1812 war, toward the Distillery District and further to the newly established neighbourhood of Canary District.
We have in our collection strech of few connected square like spaces. It is quite surprising to experience spaces like this in any North American city.

Of course WALK [psychogeography] . That is only way to see how good it is.

X marks on the map bellow are locations from where photos were taken.
