manasitiraki meaning little monastery is name given to this square by the little monastery complex that stood here before otoman invasion. only church pantanassa with completely restored bell tower survived. other religious building on the square is quite large tsisdarakis mosque [minus minaret], relic to turkish occupation, built in 1759. traditional sunday flea market has been held here since 1910. narrow alleyways and street zigzagging in this area of athens will all lead you trough the oldest neighbourhood of plaka to the acropolis visible on the top of the hill in the distance.
