this square with popular name for all historic slavs movements [jugoslavija] to unite their territories and with the monument in the middle to one of the main serbian politicians – dimitrije tucovic – with such aspirations, never had any significance to beograd life. it was always and still is only an ultimate test for new drivers with its extremely chaotic traffic. its prime location in downtown was a "battle ground" for generations of city executives with visions of monumental proportions. unfortunately there were no results and the square is still with mostly unused real estate around. famous cinema "slavia" that stood for years on the square was demolished 20 years ago but nothing was built instead.

it is still waiting some new visionary with enough support to develop this prime city space. square is symbolically following the destiny of all slav unifying movements, even if they existed at some point in time they are not in the sight anymore.
