one of the finest calder mobile sculptures and water feature is making small expansion on this corner, nice resting space along park avenue. it is surrounded by many skyscrapers designed by famous architects. among others, blocking the view along park avenue, is famous pan-am building, by gropius and belluschi. typical ludwig mies van der rohe's black steel building is facing the calder sculpture. king st. plaza in toronto, canada is having three mies van der rohe buildings with very similar characteristics.

on the opposite corner, see little photo, one level lower, is quite pleasant space but unfortunately totally separated from this one. unique opportunity to create very good square on both sides of the street is lost even when space, so precious in manhattan, was available.
